Bosphorus Cruise Piers and Hotel Pickup

The Bosphorus dinner cruises leave from three places: Mega Lüfer’s main dinner cruise boards near Kabataş, at the end of the T1 tram line; Turyol’s boards at Karaköy pier, two minutes from the Karaköy tram stop; and Mega Lüfer’s cheaper Golden Horn cruise boards at Cibali, on the T5 tram. The big cruises also sell a hotel pickup, which makes the pier a question for the van driver rather than for you.

Bad weather or an order from the port authorities can move a departure to another pier, and guests are told on the day, so give a phone number with WhatsApp when you book.

Kabataş: the main dinner cruise

Kabataş is where the T1 tram ends, beside the ferry terminal and a short walk from Dolmabahçe Palace. Mega Lüfer’s private-table dinner cruise boards on the waterfront just north of the tram stop, towards the palace. From Sultanahmet the tram takes you there without a change; from Taksim, the F1 funicular runs underground down to Kabataş in a couple of minutes. Karaköy: Turyol’s blue boat

Turyol’s Turkish night cruise uses the ordinary Karaköy ferry pier at the north end of the Galata Bridge. Wait outside the pier gates: you do not go through the turnstiles or buy a ferry ticket, and you board when the big blue boat comes in, between 20:00 and 20:30. It leaves on time. Take the T1 to Karaköy, or tell a taxi driver “Karaköy İskelesi”.

Cibali: the Golden Horn departure

Mega Lüfer’s cheaper Golden Horn dinner cruise sails on the Mega Lüfer-3 from a pier on the Golden Horn opposite the entrance of Kadir Has University. Take the T1 tram to Eminönü and change to the T5 for Cibali, or from Taksim take the M2 metro to Şişhane and walk about 15 minutes across the Atatürk Bridge. Suitcases and large bags are not allowed on board, so this is not a cruise to fit in on your way to the airport.

Hotel pickup: who it reaches

On Mega Lüfer’s private-table cruise, guests with the transfer option wait at their hotel from 19:00, and the van comes between 19:00 and 20:00; if it cannot reach your street, the pickup is nearby. Its listing names 19 drop-off areas on the European side, among them Sultanahmet, Sirkeci, Eminönü, Laleli, Aksaray, Fatih, Topkapı, Karaköy, Beyoğlu, Taksim, Kabataş, Beşiktaş, Şişli, Gayrettepe and Levent. Istanbul Clue’s dinner cruise with drinks collects from Sultanahmet, Sirkeci, Topkapı, Taksim, Harbiye, Beyoğlu and Karaköy, 30 to 90 minutes before departure, and drops guests back at about midnight.

Asian-side hotels (Kadıköy, Üsküdar) are not on these lists. From there, take the ferry to Karaköy or Kabataş and board at the pier.

Getting back after the cruise

The boats return late in the evening, around the time the trams finish (they run until about midnight). With the pickup option the van takes you back. Without it, Karaköy and Kabataş have taxi ranks, and from Kabataş the funicular to Taksim is a short ride.
