How a Bosphorus Dinner Cruise Works
Pick the package, get to the pier or wait at your hotel, and the boat does the rest: dinner, the show and the lit shore.
Pick the Package
The base ticket covers a private table, dinner, unlimited soft drinks, tea and Turkish coffee, and the show. Unlimited alcohol, hotel pickup and a window, stage-side or VIP lounge table are options you add when you book; the add-ons are priced per person.
Get to the Boat
Without pickup, you board the boat near Kabataş, the end of the T1 tram line. With pickup, be ready at your hotel from 19:00: the van comes between 19:00 and 20:00, and meets you nearby if it cannot reach your street.
Dinner, the Show and the Bridges
The boat sails up past Dolmabahçe Palace and the Ortaköy Mosque, under the Bosphorus Bridge, to Rumeli Fortress and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, and turns back past Beylerbeyi Palace and the Maiden's Tower. Mezes, a hot starter and a main course are served while the dancers perform.
Back by Midnight
About three hours after boarding you are back at the pier, and the transfer vans take pickup guests back to their hotels. Bring a passport or ID card; the boats are not suitable for wheelchair users.

The Guide
A Night on the Bosphorus: What You Get, and What to Pick
The dinner cruises look alike in the listings. They differ in where they board, what the drinks package covers, where your table is, and whether a van collects you. Here is how to choose, and when to skip it.
A Bosporus dinner cruise (most signs and listings spell it Bosphorus) is a three-hour evening on a large restaurant boat on the strait that divides Istanbul: dinner at your own table, a Turkish night show on a stage in the saloon, and the palaces, mosques and two suspension bridges lit up outside the windows. The most reviewed is Mega Lüfer Yachts’ dinner cruise and show with a private table, from $31 a person in current promotion (usually $38), checked October 2026, with unlimited soft drinks, tea and Turkish coffee. It is rated 4.8 from 75,889 reviews, and it sails every evening.

It is a busy evening: 350 new reviews were posted for that one cruise between 14 and 26 October 2026, an average of 4.71 out of 5, with 288 of them five stars. The praise is for the dancers, the waiters and the view of the lit Bosphorus Bridge; the complaints, when they come, are about the food or the table.
What happens on the night
If you booked the transfer, you wait in your hotel lobby from 19:00 and a van collects you between 19:00 and 20:00. Otherwise you make your own way to the boat, which for Mega Lüfer’s main cruise boards near Kabataş, at the end of the T1 tram line. You are shown to a private table (solo travellers share one), the mezes arrive, and the boat sails north up the strait.
The route is the classic Bosphorus evening: Dolmabahçe Palace and Çırağan Palace on the European shore, the Ortaköy Mosque under the first bridge, then up to Rumeli Fortress and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, and back down the Asian side past Beylerbeyi Palace to the Maiden’s Tower. You can step out onto the deck for photographs between courses.

The standard dinner is six cold Turkish mezes, a hot starter, a main course (sea bass, chicken, beef or a vegetarian dish) and seasonal fruit; vegetarian, pescetarian and halal meals are available if you ask when you book. The show runs through the evening in short sets: Turkish folk dances, a whirling dervish, Latin and flamenco numbers, belly dancing, and a DJ to finish. About three hours after you board, you are back at the pier and the vans take pickup guests home.
Which package to book
The base price buys the table, the dinner, soft drinks and the show. Everything else is an option you tick when you book, and the add-ons are priced per person:
- Unlimited alcoholic drinks. If you want more than a glass or two, take it, because drinks bought on board outside the package cost extra.
- Hotel pickup and drop-off. Worth it if you stay in Sultanahmet, Sirkeci, Laleli, Taksim or anywhere the tram does not run late; the cruise ends close to the tram’s last service.
- A window table, a stage-side table or the VIP lounge on the upper deck. The window table is the one that changes the evening; the VIP lounge is a seat, not a better menu (the VIP menu is a separate option).
A cheaper way to the same show is the company’s Golden Horn departure, from $24 a person in current promotion (usually $29), which boards at a pier by Kadir Has University (Cibali tram stop) and is the one to choose if you want a window table guaranteed: there it is a bookable option. Turyol’s Turkish night cruise boards at Karaköy, two minutes from the tram, with an hour and a half of show and a DJ. The comparison table above sets the three side by side.
The honest part
The dinner cruise is a show for visitors, not a night of Turkish cooking or a cultural performance, and up to a few hundred people share each boat (Mega Lüfer’s main saloon seats 160, its VIP lounges 100). Expect a photographer at your table selling prints and a photo book, and some guests mention the belly dancer collecting tips. If any of that would spoil the evening, there are two better nights out:
- For the view alone, the two-hour sightseeing cruise, from $8 a person in current promotion (usually $11), sails by day, at sunset or at night with an audio guide, and you eat in Karaköy afterwards.
- For the cheapest ride, the city ferry company Şehir Hatları runs its own Bosphorus tours from Eminönü: ₺340 for the short tour and ₺640 return for the long one that reaches the Black Sea (foreign-passenger fares, sehirhatlari.istanbul, checked October 2026). No dinner, no show, and no evening departures in winter.
Dinner cruise, yacht or ferry compares all four, with a private yacht for groups.
When to go
Every month works, because the boats are enclosed and heated, but the view changes with the season. Istanbul is on UTC+3 all year: the sun sets at about 20:40 in late June and about 17:40 in December. From May to September you board in daylight or at dusk; in winter the whole route is a night view. The best-time guide has sunset times and night temperatures month by month.
Where to stay for a cruise night
Stay in Sultanahmet for a first visit and book the pickup, or in Karaköy to walk to the pier and back. Beyoğlu, above Karaköy, suits travellers who want bars on the other nights, and Beşiktaş is a quieter base on the strait itself:
- Hotels in Sultanahmet : the old city, inside the cruise pickup areas.
- Hotels in Karaköy : on the water, a walk from the Karaköy and Eminönü piers.
- Hotels in Beyoğlu : Galata and Taksim, with the funicular down to Kabataş.

Before you book
- Is it worth it? For a festive evening with the lights, yes; for food, no. Is the Bosphorus dinner cruise worth it weighs it up.
- What does each option cost? The prices guide lays out the packages.
- Which pier, and does the van reach my hotel? Piers and hotel pickup has the map.
- What is the show, and what do I wear? What to expect.

Bosphorus Dinner Cruise FAQ
The questions people ask before booking a dinner cruise in Istanbul, answered in the first sentence. Prices as listed on GetYourGuide in October 2026.
From about US$29 to US$38 a person for the big dinner-and-show boats, as listed on GetYourGuide in October 2026, with lower promotional prices on some dates. Mega Lüfer Yachts' dinner cruise with a private table is listed from US$38 (US$31 in its late-October promotion) with unlimited soft drinks; unlimited alcohol, hotel pickup, a window table and a stage-side table are options that cost more. The prices guide lays out every package.
Yes, if you want a lively, touristy night out with the lit palaces and bridges going past the window; no, if what you want is a memorable Turkish dinner. The 350 newest reviews of the most reviewed cruise (14 to 26 October 2026) gave it 4.71 out of 5, with 288 five-star ratings; most low ratings were about the food or the table. Read is it worth it before you book.
The most reviewed is Mega Lüfer Yachts' dinner cruise and show with a private table, rated 4.8 from about 75,900 reviews, boarding near Kabataş. The same company's Golden Horn departure is cheaper, from US$29, and lets you book a window table; Turyol's Turkish night cruise boards at Karaköy, from US$37.
It depends on the boat: Mega Lüfer's main dinner cruise boards near Kabataş, its cheaper Golden Horn departure from a pier on the Golden Horn by Kadir Has University (Cibali tram stop), and Turyol's from Karaköy, two minutes from the Karaköy tram stop. Most dinner cruises also sell a hotel pickup option. The piers and pickup guide has a map.
Not in the basic price: the standard tickets include unlimited soft drinks, tea and Turkish coffee, and unlimited alcohol is an option you choose when you book. On Mega Lüfer's private-table cruise extra alcoholic drinks outside the package are sold on board; Turyol excludes imported spirits from its alcohol option, and Istanbul Clue's option includes two alcoholic drinks rather than unlimited.
Yes, if you book the option with transfer: on Mega Lüfer's dinner cruise you wait at the hotel from 19:00 and the van comes between 19:00 and 20:00. Its listing names 19 drop-off areas, among them Sultanahmet, Sirkeci, Eminönü, Laleli, Aksaray, Karaköy, Beyoğlu, Taksim, Kabataş, Beşiktaş and Şişli; if the van cannot reach your street, it collects you nearby.
A sequence of short dance and music acts performed between the tables: Turkish folk dances, a whirling dervish demonstration, Caucasian dances, belly dancing and, on some boats, Latin and flamenco numbers, then a DJ. Turyol lists its show at an hour and a half. It is staged for visitors rather than a cultural performance, and some guests mention the belly dancer collecting tips at the tables. What to expect has the running order.
Yes: the three biggest dinner cruises list vegetarian, pescetarian and halal meals, and Mega Lüfer's menus include a vegetarian main course. Say so when you book. The standard menu on Mega Lüfer's dinner cruise is six cold mezes, a hot starter, a main course (sea bass, chicken, beef or vegetarian) and seasonal fruit.
About three hours on the water; with a hotel transfer the evening runs from about 19:00 to around midnight. The boats sail up past Dolmabahçe Palace and the Ortaköy Mosque, under the Bosphorus Bridge, to Rumeli Fortress and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, and turn back.
Smart casual, and a jacket for the deck: there is no formal dress code. Jeans are fine, for men and women, on the boats and in central Istanbul. From November to March the average night-time low in Istanbul is 4 to 10 °C, so bring a warm layer if you plan to go outside for the bridges.
Around sunset, from May to October. Istanbul's sunset moves from about 17:40 in December to about 20:40 in late June, so in summer a dinner cruise starts at dusk and in winter the whole route is a night view. The best-time guide has sunset times for every month.
Şehir Hatları, the city ferry company, charges foreign passengers ₺640 for the Long Bosphorus Tour return trip and ₺340 for the Short Bosphorus Tour (sehirhatlari.istanbul, checked October 2026). The long tour leaves Eminönü at 10:35 and turns round at Anadolu Kavağı near the Black Sea; there is no dinner or show. Dinner cruise, yacht or ferry compares them.
Sultanahmet for a first visit with hotel pickup, or Karaköy if you want to walk to the pier and back. Both are inside the pickup areas of the big dinner cruises. The where-to-stay guide compares Sultanahmet, Karaköy, Beyoğlu and Beşiktaş.
